The short answer

Under the hood · How it works

React Native's New Architecture — Fabric for rendering and TurboModules for native calls — replaced the old async bridge with a direct JavaScript Interface (JSI). The result is lower latency between JS and native code, synchronous native calls when needed, and a framework that no longer feels like a compromise between web and native.

Bolder uses React Native when a team is JS-first, when web and mobile code sharing matters, or when OTA updates (shipping fixes without an App Store review cycle) are a real operational need. Expo's tooling handles builds, previews, and updates, so the team spends time on product, not native build configuration.

MVP on a tight runway

Founders who need iOS and Android live for a launch date, not a launch quarter.

Existing React web team going mobile

Teams with a React web app who want their existing skillset to carry over to mobile.

Startup needs iOS + Android from one budget

Two platforms to build, one engineering budget — without doubling the team.

App needs OTA updates without app store review

Ship fixes and content changes instantly, without waiting on Apple or Google's review queue.

Reuse business logic across web and mobile

Share API calls, validation, and state management between your React web app and mobile app.

Growing app needs native modules bridged in

When a feature needs true native code, TurboModules bridge it in without a rewrite.

Why React Native

When React Native is the right call.

React Native is the right call when your team is JS-first, both platforms matter from day one, and you need to ship without doubling your engineering budget.

Ship both platforms from day one.

iOS and Android from a single codebase and a single release cycle — no parity drift between app stores.

OTA updates without App Store review.

EAS Update and CodePush ship JS changes instantly, reserving native review cycles for actual native changes.

Native modules when you need them.

TurboModules bridge in true native code for the few features that need it, without a full rewrite.

Managed builds, previews, and OTA updates handled by Expo — less time on native build configuration, more on product.
